(ALICE, 7, sits in a seat on a shuttle to O’Hare Airport. She kicks her legs, glowering.) I can be a lot of things, but I will not be a role model. My mom says I have to be, ‘cause babies are small and don’t know any better, but I’m not gonna be. If the baby messes up, it’s her own fault for being stupid. Mom would probably say that isn’t fair, because babies can’t help being stupid, but you know what else isn’t fair? That baby! I didn’t say Mom and Jack could have a baby—why should I have to be good for something I don’t want? That’s my question. And no one’s maki

EXT. ON A SAND DUNE ON THE BEACH - AFTERNOON NEJI [early 30s, brown hair] stands on a sand dune on a cloudy afternoon. Next to him, a metal detector leans half-sunken in the sand. It is slightly tilted, and the head of a pig crafted in solid stainless steel is firmly stuck to it. He kicks some sand. NEJI “Let’s bet on this,” they said. “It’ll be fun,” they said. (Kicks sand, shouts) I’m not feeling the fun here! He takes a deep breath before turning to the metal detector. # Scene 1 - INT Housing # Narrow corridor with rationed lighting creating dim pools of illumination amid the darkness. The metal walls have many doors, each about ten feet apart with a perpendicular corridor between every set of five doors. The halls extending off into the distance for perhaps a mile or more. RUS, a slim and wiry man, creeps along the corridor. His clothes seem dark, but in light several uniform stripes of dark forest green can be seen wrapped around his gray sleeves, collar, chest and belt. A sheen of sweat covers his face and his eyes are wide and darting. Silence can't be easy on these metal floors, but he is both silent and quick. At any sounds, from the CREAK of a door to any distant echoing FOOTSTEPS, he pauses. Stopping at one intersection, he glances down to a small wristband device with a faint holographic map display. He peers around a corner at one particular door, then slips off into the darkest shadows of a nearby wall. A teen GIRL in a silver-white

Valley OF Abundance

A lone monorail was all that connected the ancient factory to civilization. Beneath it was a flooded valley. Its most notable feature was the mile-long elevator that descended into a body of black water. Underwater a meeting would take place between a man and a savior of sorts. The room was dark, with little more than a bleach white table, with a knob welded to its underside; Along with a cage cloaked in a layer of unnatural darkness, rusted but unbothered by the damage. Natas sat down at the table. The blood on his hands tainted its pristine surface as he wiped his palms against it. As he stared he cleared his throat and began to speak. Natas: “AWAKEN! I WANT what I am owed..." Thousands of crimson eyes stirred in the shadows, the maws mixed into the mass snapping against the bars of the cage. A black tendril lunged to grasp the Natas but he swiftly turned the knob. The floodlights surrounding the cage flicked on their hum drowned out by the monster's screams. Thing:

A World Behind Worlds

Two people standing in an atelier. Lots of canvases, buckets of colours, brushes etc. are standing and lying around. Some objects are covered with white linen sheets. A green antiquated sofa is standing on the side. One painting in the background shows an elephant in front of a sunlit sky. One person (A) is painting a colourful portrait, the other one (B) looks at a delicate staircase in the middle of the room, with steps in the size of piano keys and leading to a hole in the ceiling. B: So what’s with these stairs? A: Oh, I don’t know. B: You don’t know? A: You see, they’ve been here when I moved in. B: You never wondered where they lead? A: Why would I? B: Well… A: I painted them a few times. B: Of course. B ist walking some steps of the stairs with their fingers, shaking their head in disbelief. A keeps painting. It knocks and a third person (C) is entering the room. A nods to C who is looking around the room, grabs a pack of cigarettes that’s lying on a small table. C

SCENE I - Leaving (Cityscape - Sunset. Sounds of distant traffic and hurried footsteps.) Narrator: Fog drifted in with the night as the sun gave its final farewell to the city. It was a sight, the sky turned red, the streetlights flickered in the distance, the shadows crawled up, and the dense mist suffocated the last remnants of the day. And grim though it seemed, it all meant nothing to this man, cutting through the dark dashing to get home to his warm bed. It had been a long day. A terribly long day. —— (Cuts to the fog filled streets of an unnamed city‘s outskirts.) (the man, bundled in layers far too thin for the weather, runs down the dark street, crosses the narrow road — momentarily gets outlined in faint red light, fled into a dark ally way walled in by deteriorating buildings, comes out the other end to a fenced in space illuminated by the blue light of a nearby security lamp (up high beyond view). Litter lines the streets and ally.) (the man let’s out a sigh of
